The «Testing» window

Button (1) plays out the solution of the endgame position. If the setting «Show secondary moves when displaying the solution» is enabled and secondary moves exist,
the program will show every possible solution variation, returning to the previous positions as it goes.
If you press button (1) without giving an answer, the program understands that you have peeked at the solution and marks the solution of this position accordingly. Buttons (2) and (3) move to the previous and the next position.
Between buttons (1) and (2) the number of the current position and the total number of positions are shown. By clicking on the slider below you can jump to positions out of order.
The number of positions can be set from 1 to 1000, or to 2000, depending on the level.
After you press «Done» (4) the answer is checked and the button changes to «Next». This means that pressing the button a second time will set up the next task on the left-hand board.
If every task has been completed, the button will read «Test» instead of «Next». In that case pressing the button takes you to the choice of a new test.
To peek at the solution as a final arrangement of the pieces, press button (5). If there are several correct answers, the program will pick one of them.
If the position has comments, they appear in field (6).
The «Player» line (7) contains the name of the current player. To change the player, press button (9), which opens the «List of players». If you click on the word «Player» itself, a menu appears
offering additional actions.
The «Test» line (8) contains the type of the current test. To change the test, press button (10), which opens the «Test selection window». If you click on the word «Test» itself, a menu appears
whose first line (Test settings) opens the «Test selection window», while the second offers a rating-category test. The saved «Test settings» are also in this menu.
The «Results» table (11) records the results of the current test — the number of correct, wrong and peeked answers, and the accumulated score.
If a position has been viewed but no answer has been given, it counts as skipped. You can come back to it with buttons (2) and (3).
If the test is timed, every position that was not answered within the allotted time counts as a wrong answer.
Note that once an endgame position has been displayed, the stopwatch measuring the time spent on solving that position will no longer stop in a timed test.
The «Total score» and «Player level» lines show the score the player has accumulated over the whole time of using the program and the level they have reached.
During testing the time is displayed between buttons (3) and (4). In a timed test the clock runs backwards, showing the time left for thinking.
Between buttons (3) and (4) there is an arrow that hides or shows the lower part of the window.
The «Test settings» window
A new test is created in the test selection window. Once the required parameters have been set and «Done» pressed, the player moves to the «Main window» and starts testing.

Pressing button (1) opens a menu in which you can choose a rating-category test or load previously saved settings.
If the player has several preferred settings, they can be saved
by pressing «Save» (8).
Then, instead of filling in the fields, it is enough to press button (1) and choose the test you want. The Level (2) shows which «Library of positions» the test will be built from.
Field (3) sets the number of endgame positions in the test. This number cannot exceed the number of positions in the corresponding library.
So if you enter too large a number in this field and then leave it, the player will see the maximum possible number, matching the size of the library.
Answers in the test can be given either by setting up the final position on the right-hand board or by playing moves on the left-hand one. Field (4) specifies which method will be used for the solution.
Note that if «by setting up» is chosen, moves can still be made on the left-hand board while solving, but the answer will only be accepted from the right-hand board.
If no moves may be made during testing, choose the option «setting up without moves».
Endgame positions (5) can be chosen from the library either at random or in order — a given number of positions, starting from the one specified.
When the «Thinking time» box (6) is ticked, a limited amount of time is allowed for solving a single position (if «per task» is chosen) or for the whole test (if «for all tasks» is chosen).
The time is entered in the field as hours:minutes:seconds.
Option (7) lets you disable the possibility of peeking at the answer. In a timed test you can allow the correct answer to be viewed only after the test time has run out.
A rating-category test has the following settings
:– The level corresponds to the rating category
– The number of endgame positions is 30
– The solution may be given by any method
– The endgame positions are chosen at random, ten from each third of the library, and are ordered from simple to difficult. It is assumed that the difficulty of the endgame positions in the library increases steadily.
– 30 minutes are allowed for the whole test
– Peeking is only possible after the test has finished
